Sources within the Defense Ministry confirmed that the head of the committee for socio-economic change, Professor Manuel Trachtenberg recently met with Defense Minister Ehud Barak a number of times. Among the issues they discussed – defense budget cuts.
The officials added that the defense minister believed that the socio-economic protests were important and that he held Professor Trachtenberg in high esteem. The officials also noted that as previously stated, if a comprehensive plan were offered, the ministry would also "do its part" while taking into consideration the various security threats.
