Former senior Tax Authority official convicted of accepting bribes

The Tel Aviv District Court has convicted David Vanunu, the former head of the Tax Authority's National Investigations and Field Intelligence Branch, of accepting bribes, conspiracy to commit a crime and obstruction of justice.

The court accepted the testimony of state witness Yochai Yaish, who said that he bribed Vanunu for taking care of is tax file. The court cleared the defendant of the other charges pressed against him, including extortion. (Naama Cohen-Friedman)
