Jaljulia man sentenced to community service for polygamy

The Petah Tikvah Magistrate's Court has convicted a 44-year-old Jaljulia resident of polygamy, and sentenced him to four months of community service and a year of probation.
According to the indictment, the man married in 1994, but due to the couple's inability to have children he took another wife in 2006. He spends alternate weeks with each wife. The maximal sentence for polygamy violations is five years in prison. (Raanan Ben-Zur)
