Abbas refuses US request to shelve UN bid

The US' Middle East David Hill met Wednesday with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah.

Hill conveyed Washington's official request that the PA shelve its UN bid for recognition. Abbas refused.

Chief Palestinian Negotiator Saeb Erekat said that Hill informed Abbas that the US was against the move and that negotiations were the only path it would support. (Elior Levy)
