PM: Lack of competition to blame for high cost of living

None

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented before the Knesset the interim conclusions of the committee appointed to study the market concentration, noting that "compared to the rest of the world, Israelis pay more for products and services."

Netanyahu blamed the high cost of living in Israel on the lack of competition. "The competition is not the consumer's enemy," he said. "It reduces prices and improves service. My goal is to increase the competition in the market to reduce the high cost of living." (Avital Lahav)
