Ban at UN: World should make effort to end Mideast impasse

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Wednesday called for an international effort to end the "impasse" in the Middle East, referring to the decision of the Palestinians to seek full membership at the UN.
In his opening speech at the Annual General Assembly meeting of the United Nations, Ban pledged that for their part, the United Nations would work "tirelessly" to advance the process of Israeli-Palestinian peace. (AFP)
