Germany 'not surprised' by French proposal at UN

German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said he was not surprised by French President Nicolas Sarkozy's proposal whereby the Palestinians will receive UN observer status while a road map to peace is formed within one year.
He noted that several aspects of Sarkozy's proposal had already been discussed in international forums and was there not surprised when Sarkozy presented them at the UN General Assembly. (AFP)
