Gov't secretary: Palestinians won't get state at UN

None

Government Secretary Zvi Hauser, who is in New York for the UN General Assembly, told Ynet that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "turned to (Palestinian President) Mahmoud Abbas prior to his departure and suggested to meet him in New York. Netanyahu also suggested holding a meeting in Jerusalem or Ramallah."

He said that "the prime minister's strategy, which primarily aims to block the Palestinian bid and make it clear that a state cannot be established unilaterally, has proved to be successful. The Palestinians won't get a state here. This should encourage them to return to the negotiating table." (Attila Somfalvi and Yitzhak Benhorin, New York)
