France condemned Israel's approval of a plan to build 1,100 new homes in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Gilo. The French foreign affairs ministry said in a statement that the decision "appears to be a provocation" and is "counterproductive" to the international community's efforts to restart the peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.
