White House condemns attack on US envoy in Syria

The White House on Thursday condemned an attack by pro-government Syrian protesters on the US ambassador in Damascus, which it called an attempt to intimidate a diplomat witnessing the "brutality" of the Syrian government.

"These kinds of assaults against diplomatic personnel, including are ambassador, are unwarranted and unjustifiable," White House spokesman Jay Carney told a daily news briefing. (Reuters)
