PMO: No crisis with Germany
The Prime Minister's Office rejected reports claiming that there was a crisis in the relations between Israel and Germany following a phone call in which German Chancellor Angela Merkel reprimanded Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the construction of 1,100 housing units in the Gilo neighborhood of east Jerusalem.
In a press release the PMO stated that: "Relations with the German government and Chancellor Merkel were close. When there are disagreements they are discussed in the right spirit. " The press release also stated that the Israeli media rushed to report of a so called crisis between the US and Israel in the past but "the US president made it clear that the relations were closer than ever."
