Panetta: Congress' Palestinian aid freeze decision a mistake
Following his meeting with Defense Minister Ehud Barak in Tel Aviv, US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said the Congress' decision to freeze the transfer of financial aid to the Palestinians was a mistake. According to Panetta, Israel also benefits from the aid and this was not the right time to halt the aid.
Panetta also commented on the matter of Jonathan Pollard and called it a delicate subject. He said that President Obama made it clear that the US stance was to not release Pollard. (Yoav Zitun)
