PA National Council granted status by European Council
The Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) granted Tuesday granted "Partner for Democracy" status to the Palestinian National Council (PNC). This will allow Palestinian representatives to address the Assembly and other committees but will not give them the right to vote.
In return, the PNC must commit to refrain from violence, condemn terror and recognize the State of Israel. They must also work to free captive soldier Gilad Shalit. (AFP)
