Abbas to leave for Europe, Latin America on statehood bid
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has left on a visit to Europe and Latin American countries in a bid to get Security Council members opposing the Palestinian request for full membership in the United Nations to change their mind.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad al-Maliki clarified in an interview to the Maan news agency that the Palestinian would not give up. The Security Council will vote on the Palestinian request within 25 days. (Elior Levy)
