Libya: 900 bodies in 2 mass graves uncovered near Tripoli

A security official in Tripoli on Wednesday announced the discovery of two mass graves containing nearly 900 bodies. The announcement came 10 days after a controversy over the existence of other mass graves in Libya.

 

"We have uncovered two mass graves of victims of the former regime," said Naji al-Issawi, head of the Tripoli brigade, at a press conference. He said some 200 bodies were found in the first mass grave, located in Gargarech, about 7 km from the center o fTripoli, and another 700 in a second mass grave in Birasta Milad, an agricultural region 10 km from the capital.
