Peres thanks Sarkozy for involvement in Shalit deal

President Shimon Peres called French President Nicolas Sarkozy and thanked him for his personal involvement in the efforts to bring kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit home.
"Gilad is dear to our people and I know he is also dear to the French nation," Peres said. Sarkozy told Peres that "France had done everything in its power to execute this important humanitarian mission. We are all happy that Gilad is coming home." (Ronen Medzini)
