US opposes move to legalize West Bank settlements

The United States said on Wednesday it opposes any effort to legalize settlement outposts on the West Bank, after Israel set up a panel tasked with exploring ways to do so.

"We oppose any effort to legalize settlement outposts, which is unhelpful to our peace efforts and would contradict Israeli commitments and obligations," the State Department said in a statement. (AFP)
