Israeli negotiator on Shalit deal: Non-Israeli contact led to breakthrough
None
Israel's top negotiator on the Shalit deal, David Meidan, told his associates that a non-Israeli contact was the one to push for the initial breakthrough last June, which eventually led to the signing of the prisoner-exchange deal between Israeli and Hamas.
Meidan refused to name the contact, but mentioned this man was asked to extricate a written document from Hamas outlining a deal which could be approved by Israel. (Ron Ben-Yishai)
