Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan offered over the summer to mediate the prisoner exchange deal, claimed Israel's top negotiator on the Shalit deal, David Meidan.
Meidan told his associates that the Turkey's National Intelligence Organization Chief Hakan Fidan, thought to be Erdogan's confidant, requested to have Turkey take the lead on the Shalit negotiations on behalf of his PM. (Ron Ben-Yishai)
