Yemen says local al-Qaeda chief, 6 others killed

Yemen's Defense Ministry says the media chief for al-Qaeda's Yemeni branch has been killed along with six other people in an airstrike.
The ministry said in a statement Saturday that Egyptian-born Ibrahim al-Bana and the six others were killed in the southeastern province of Shabwa on Friday night. Security officials said the airstrike was among five that targeted al-Qaeda positions in Shabwa. They said the airstrikes were carried out by US aircraft. (AP)
