Likud slams Livni over Shalit comments
Party members respond to Opposition chairwoman's remarks in Yedioth Ahronoth by which Shalit deal 'weakens Israel', say 'she must have forgotten Shalit fell captive while she was a senior minister; it's better she keeps quiet'
The Likud on Sunday reacted to comments made by Opposition Chairwoman Tzipi Livni regarding the prisoner swap, by which "Israel was weakened" by the Shalit deal.
According to Livni's statements, which were published in Yedioth Ahronoth, "The public forced the decision on the government. Because of (Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu, Hamas' power has doubled."

Responding to the Kadima Member of Knesset's comments, Likud officials stated: "It is regrettable that Livni is addressing Gilad Shalit like a reality show outcast. It is no less regrettable that she chose to be on vacation abroad when the entire nation shared in the excitement of his return.

"She must have forgotten that Shalit fell captive while she was serving as a senior minister in the government. She must have also forgotten that she failed to bring him home," the officials claimed.
"Livni is a cowardly politician who didn't speak when she was supposed to. Livni does not know what responsibility is and acts out of political interests that are not even acceptable to members of her own party. Livni woke up too late as usual and it would be better had she kept silent."
Amid a piercing public debate over the price of the prisoner exchange deal, Gilad Shalit continues to adapt to his old life. On Thursday night he watched a basketball game and on Saturday morning he went to the beach with his father Noam.
Shalit continues to be surrounded by family and friends, and is expected to receive a visit from President Shimon Peres in the upcoming days.
