The mayor of a town in eastern Turkey hit by a powerful earthquake says many people have died.
"There are so many dead. Several buildings have collapsed, there is too much destruction," Ercis mayor Zulfikar Arapoglu told NTV television. "We need urgent aid, we need medics," he said. The US Geological Survey put the magnitude of Sunday afternoon's quake at 7.3. (AP)
