Peres: Abbas wants peace

President Shimon Peres said Tuesday that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad are "serious leaders who want peace with Israel and we should proceed with negotiations in order to achieve peace."
Peres' statement goes against claims made by Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Monday, saying Abbas was hindering the peace talks and is the worst leader that Israel could ever find itself dealing with. (Ronen Medzini)
