Soldier accidentally shot in stomach

IDF soldier suffers abdomen injuries due to apparent misfire; airlifted to Safed hospital in moderate condition

An IDF soldier suffered an accidental gunshot wound to abdomen Thursday, from an apparent misfire. He suffered moderate injuries and was airlifted to a Ziv Medical Center in Safed.

The soldier was on a bus parked in a Kiryat Shmona hotel parking lot, together with his brigade comrades, when a fellow comrade's gun allegedly went off, injuring him.

"The soldiers started yelling and they got off the bus," a hotel employee recalled.

The soldier was then evacuated via ambulance to a nearby medical station to receive initial treatment. He was later airlifted to the Safed hospital for further care.

"The soldier is conscious and his condition is stable. He was hit in the lower abdomen. He's breathing and communicating and arrived here in stable condition, and then taken by chopper to the hospital," said Kiryat Shmona's Magen David Adom emergency services chief.
