PA Minister: We will not pursue admission to UN agencies
Speaking at a press conference in Ramallah Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki announced that the Palestinian Authority would not pursue admittance to additional UN agencies at this time. Rather, it would focus its efforts on its UN Security Council bid and in trying to be accepted as a full member at the UN.
In his statements Al-Malki negated statements made earlier by the Palestinian envoy to the UN headquarters in Geneva who noted that following the Palestinian Authority's admittance to UNESCO it would request to join 16 other UN agencies. (Elior Levy)
