Knesset member Avi Dichter announced Monday that he will be vying for the chairmanship of Kadima in its nearing primaries. Dichter will be facing off with Kadima Chairwoman Tzipi Livni and MK Shaul Mofaz.
"Kadima's system has become Tzipi's system and not the party's. It no longer serves Kadima's interests," he said.

The former Shin Bet chief further claimed that Kadima has become devoid of ideological debate: "This is a sign of weakness – Kadima has failed to take a clear stand on important issues."
As for State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss' report about Kadima, which suggested various improprieties, Dichter said he will not remain a part of an "undemocratic party." Still, he stressed he aims to "rectify the situation" rather than leave the party.
"Kadima will exercise transparency. I will insist on that. Livni is failing to perform her duties when it comes to the budget. If we have a budget of NIS 23 million ($6.4 million) is requires that we exercise transparency. I don't know what Livni is trying to hide," he said.
Dichter said he believed Kadima's primaries would be pushed up. "Kadima cannot go on without holding primaries," he concluded.
