An official says six Hindus have died in a stampede during a religious ceremony on the banks of the Ganges River in northern India.
Amit Chandola, a government spokesman, says another 50 people were injured Tuesday in Haridwar, a temple-filled town in Uttar Pradesh state at the foothills of the Himalayas where the Ganges enters the sprawling plains of northern India. (AP)
