Katsav to keep NIS 50,000 monthly pension despite rape conviction

Former President Moshe Katsav will continue to receive from the state a monthly tax-exempt pension of NIS 50,000, despite the fact that the Supreme Court has upheld his rape conviction and seven-year prison sentence.

Following Thursday's ruling, Katsav was stripped of the presidential retirement benefits that he has been receiving, but the pension is irrevocable. Some of the perks that Katsav is losing include the state-financed upkeep of his home, a state-funded office and a government car. (Zvi Lavi)
