Erekat: Quartet failed because of Israeli construction

Palestinian official Saeb Erekat said Tuesday that the Quartet failed its recent attempt to create "an atmosphere of trust which would be instrumental in renewing negotiations." Erekat said that Israel's decision to expedite construction in east Jerusalem hindered the efforts.
On Monday, Israeli and Palestinians representatives met with Quartet officials. Israeli state officials said Jerusalem was disappointed in Palestinian foot-dragging and accused the PA of falsely pretending to seek direct talks while doing nothing to achieve them. (AFP)
