Former rebel forces loyal to Libya's interim government have surrounded Muammar Gaddafi's former intelligence chief, Abdullah al-Senussi, and are negotiating his surrender, a senior commander of the fighters told Reuters.
General Ahmed al-Hamdouni said there had been no fighting after his men, acting on information from local people, surrounded the house of Senussi's sister near the desert town of Birak, 500 km (300 miles) south of Tripoli. They had seen Senussi and were negotiating with him, he added. (Reuters)
