Syrian opposition group protests Assad in Paris

None

A few dozen demonstrators unfurled an old Syrian flag in central Paris to protest a brutal crackdown on the opposition in the Middle Eastern country. An eight-month revolt against President Bashar Assad's rule has left more than 3,500 people dead, according to the UN, and is growing increasingly violent.

On Sunday, protesters from France Syrie Democratie hung the flag, a symbol of the opposition, in front of the Institut du Monde Arabe, an Arab cultural center. They chanted "Assad, criminal!" The group is calling for Assad to stop his crackdown, step down and let journalists and human rights workers into the country.(AP)
