Tantawi: Elections to be held as scheduled

Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, who heads Egypt's Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) addressed the Egyptian nation, saying that the SCAF accepts the Egyptian government's resignation.

Tantawi pledged to continue placing the interests of the Egyptian people first, adding that the military would willingly transfer power to a civilian government by July 1, 2012. Throughout the speech, the masses in Tahrir Square called for Tantawi to step down immediately. (Ynet)
