US welcomes deal to transfer power in Yemen

The United States Wednesday welcomed a deal under which Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh agreed to hand over power after 33 years in office. "The United States applauds the Yemeni government and the opposition for agreeing to a peaceful and orderly transition of power," State Department spokesman Mark Toner said. (AP)
