Arab League discuss sanctions to punish Syrian defiance

Arab ministers gathered in Cairo on Saturday to draw up sanctions against Syria to punish President Bashar Assad's regime for defying an ultimatum to allow in observers and pressing a deadly crackdown.
In a letter to the Arab League, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem accused the organization of seeking to "internationalize" the crisis in his country. (AFP)
