Report: Israel food prices lower than OECD average

The Kedmi inter-ministerial committee on consumer products has found that the price of food in Israel is lower on average than those of the other OECD member nations. The salaries in the Jewish state, however, were found to be correspondingly lower. Moreover, state funding for production and agriculture was found to be among the lowest in the OECD bloc.

The data was part of an interim report submitted to Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz. The deadline for the final report has been postponed from "late 2011" indefinitely. (Meirav Crystal)
