Minister: Unemployment must be avoided for growing economy
Speaking in Sderot, Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz said that "in order to care for society, we need a growing economy that generates employment. We must avoid mass unemployment."
"The global crisis is not just an economic crisis; it is also a social crisis. The average income in the US has gone down by 10% in the last two years. When there is a crisis it is not just the unemployed who suffer, but those who work too. That is the meaning of economic collapse. Unemployment hurts the weak first. (Ynet)
