Lebanese security officials say at least two Lebanese citizens, including an 11-year-old girl, have been wounded by gunfire from across the Syrian border. There have been growing concerns that violence related to the eight months of protests and regime crackdowns in Syria could spill over into Lebanon and cause a wider regional conflagration.
The girl and a 40-year-old man were hospitalized after being struck by bullets that were fired from the Syrian town of Talkalakh on Friday, the officials say. Witnesses have reported more than six hours of explosions and gunfire on the Syrian side starting at 3 am. (AP)
