Pentagon chief laments growing Israeli 'isolation'
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is lamenting Israel's growing isolation from traditional security partners like Turkey and Egypt.
Panetta says that it is unfortunate that over the past year Israel has grown more isolated in the Middle East and that the pursuit of a comprehensive Middle East peace has been put on hold. He says Israel has a responsibility to build regional security support for Israeli and US national security goals. He also says the Israelis must do this not only on the strength of their military but also through effective diplomacy. (AP)
