Sudan military says overran key rebel base

 Sudan's military said it overran a key rebel base in the South Kordofan border state on Saturday, the latest push by government forces to assert control over the volatile territory. 

The insurgent group, the Sudan People's Liberation Army North (SPLA-N), denied it had troops stationed in the area named by Sudan's armed forces, located in the loosely demarcated border region with newly independent South Sudan. (Reuters)
