Steinitz: Clinton exaggerates; no threat to democracy
In response to statements made by US State secretary Hillary Clinton, who claimed that the exclusion of women in Israel reminds her of Iran, Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz said Sunday that "the tones are completely exaggerated. Israel is a living breathing liberal democracy."
Steinitz added that "I don't know many democracies in the world that are better. There are often situations in which things must be corrected. The issue of exclusion of women and separation of women is one that is completely unacceptable and must be stopped, but from there to claim that there is a threat to Israeli democracy – there's still a long way to go."
