Obama sending US ambassador back to Damascus
A senior Obama administration official says the United States is sending its top envoy to Syria back to Damascus after recalling him Oct. 22 amid worsening violence.
The official says ambassador Robert Ford is due to return Tuesday. The administration has argued that his presence in Syria is important for advancing US policy goals and serving as a witness to the violence there. Syria had responded by recalling its ambassador. (AP)
