Syria denies link to attack on French UNIFIL forces

Syria rejected on Monday a French accusation that it was behind an attack which wounded five French soldiers from the UNIFIL peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon last week.

A Foreign Ministry statement said Damascus "categorically denies any Syrian connection to this act". Comments by French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe blaming Syria for Friday's bombing "lacked any evidence", it added. (Reuters)
