President Shimon Peres spoke out about the phenomenon of excluding women in Israel: "We cannot allow the public sphere to become the source of discrimination which goes against our values. No man has the right to force a woman to sit where he wants. As a Jew and as the president of the State of Israel I cannot overlook this trend."
"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also addressed the issue and said: "I am absolutely opposed to this phenomenon. It is a limited phenomenon that is not indicative of the entire population, not even the entire haredi population, but it exists. This phenomenon goes against Jewish tradition."
