US Ambassador Israel Dan Shapiro said during a meeting with students at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem that "Israel must remain a democratic country. The United States supports avoiding discrimination against women everywhere in the world, including Israel."
According to the ambassador, "Democracy in Israel is strong enough not to allow exclusion of women." (Yoav Malka)
