US adds 10 companies in Malta to Iran sanctions

The US Treasury Department said on Tuesday it was expanding sanctions on Iran to include 10 "shipping and front companies and one individual based in Malta" affiliated with the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL).

The move is part of a continuing US effort to stop Iran's nuclear weapons program by freezing the assets of individuals and companies that support the program and denying them access to the US financial system and commercial market. (Reuters)
