A rocket fired from the northern Gaza Strip exploded in an open field in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council on Saturday. A short while later a mortar shell hit an open field in the Eshkol Regional Council. No injuries or damage were reported in either incident.

Earlier this month, rockets were fired at the western Negev in the wake of the death of Assam Batash, who had been planning terrorist attacks in south Israel.

An Air Force aircraft attacked a vehicle transporting the terrorist. Batash's nephew was also killed in the incident and six people were injured.
