Peres: All male and female soldiers are equal
President Shimon Peres said at a Hanukkah ceremony that "Israel is a democratic state, it allows different views and factions as long as we remain one state. One state means one army with one command."
He also remarked on women's exclusion and said, "The people's army is an army which calls all girls and boys to serve. All male and female soldiers share equal rights and duties, with no preferences or discrimination." (Yoav Zitun)
