Iran: Ahmadinejad sister among parliament hopefuls

A total 5,283 people, among them 390 women, have registered as would-be candidates for Iran's parliamentary elections scheduled for March 2, the Islamic Republic's Interior Ministry said on Saturday.

Among the female candidates is Parvin Ahmadinejad, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's sister. Parvin, a Tehran councilmember, told reporters that she opposes the removal of her brother from the leadership post. "I think that our president is a proponent of justice," she said. (Dudi Cohen)
