Merkel, Sarkozy to meet in Berlin January 9
The German government says Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet French President Nicolas Sarkozy in Berlin next week as the eurozone attempts to get a grip on its long-running debt crisis.
Merkel's office said the two leaders will meet at the chancellery on January 9. It said the meeting will serve to "prepare for upcoming European appointments," in particular a European Union summit on January 30. (AP)
