Report: Jordanian King concerned over Mideast peace deadlock

Jordan's King Abdullah has suggested an initiative that is meant to examine the possibilities of renewing negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. This due to concerns over the closure of peace process channels and the effect it will have on Jordan, a senior Jordanian official told the Al Hayat newspaper.

The source added that the king was worried over the rise in power of Israel's right wing and the possibility that the violence in Israel will affect Jordan. The source further noted that Abdullah presented Palestinian President Abbas with a proposal to hold the next international quartet meeting with the participation of both Palestinian and Israeli representatives in Jordan.
